Course Reflection

I will have to admit that at the beginning of this course, I was not excited nor happy about taking it. I thought this class was going to be incredibly difficult throughout every assignment. Now I will admit there were a fews tears shredded. But what I learned was that taking the time to do these assignments in pieces and not all at once IS A MUST. You will not succeed and you will give yourself so much stress if wait till last minute or if you try to do it all at once.

Overall I learned A LOT about digital storytelling AND how to work with technology better. I am not good with computers and technology. So this class started off very difficult for me because I felt like I did not even know the basics of how to work through anything. I took time to learn how to do these things properly and read thoroughly on how to do certain things with the computer. In the end it all worked out. Now some of the assignments told me to use a specific website but I learned that it would not work with my laptop since it is not compatible with MacBooks which was fine I just had to learn a new way of creating these Digital stories.

Gosh my favorite project. I will give a list first of the ones I liked the most. Starting the audio assignments were a lot of fun, especially the Spooky Sounds and It’s Story Time. I also really enjoyed creating VOGUE – Design Assignment, City Graphic Poster, and Places of Peace.

But my favorite is probably the recent assignment Sun Festival Posters (5 stars). I think it was just because I finally knew how to complete it nicely and I love the way they same out.

Well I cannot believe I made it through this course. At the start I thought I was going to have to drop the course. But here we are.

Now to enjoy my summer! πŸ™‚

Character’s Story Summary

As a young child, Rapunzel was kidnapped from the Royal Family by Mother Gothel. Rapunzel’s hair contained magical healing powers, hence why Mother Gothel wanted to Rapunzel for herself. Mother Gothel kept Rapunzel far away in a tower where no one could ever find her. Rapunzel has always dreamed of seeing the floating lanterns in person and on her birthday. While Mother Gothel was on a trip, Flynn Ryder was running away from castle guards and climbed into Rapunzel’s tower. Rapunzel knocked Flynn out using her frying pan. She devised a plan to make Flynn take her to see the floating lanterns. After awhile of convincing Flynn, he caved in and agreed. On their trip they stopped at The Snuggly Duckling where they broke out into a song about their dreams and goals for life. The characters at The Snuggly Duckling took care of Rapunzel and become friends with her and Flynn, by association. When Flynn and Rapunzel finally reached the Kingdom of Corona, they went around the town exploring each part of it since it was all so new to Rapunzel. Rapunzel learned that the lanterns were sent off every year on the birthday of The Lost Princess of The Kingdom of Corona. Shocking considering that was the same day Rapunzel was born on. Flynn surprised Rapunzel with a boat ride to watch the lanterns on the water. After that Rapunzel was tricked into going back to the tower by her supposed mother. This was when Rapunzel realized SHE was The Lost Princess. Flynn had arrived at the tower to help and save Rapunzel but was stabbed by Mother Gothel. Before Rapunzel could use her healing powers on Flynn, he chopped her hair off. Killing the power of the hair and turning Mother Gothel into dust. As Rapunzel cried holding onto the dead body of Flynn and golden flower glowed out from him. The same flower that originally held the magic that was in her hair. Unfortunately, Flynn did not come back. In the end Rapunzel returned to her real family, The Royal Family.

Tutorial On Final Fanfic Assignment

Original Assignment

Credits to Disney’s Tangled

This was given to me through the assignment bank. I used it as a template of how I wanted to do my “Create My Character”

After going through the template I make my own template of what I wanted to write. From there I just went through and filled in everything that was necessary and wrote a summarized version of Rapunzel’s storyline.

Tutorial On The Final Visual Assignment

I had to complete this assignment on a computer other than a MacBook because Apple does not allow me to download GIFs for some wondrous reason.

I used GIPHY an online and mostly free GIF creating website. All I had to do was find the photos I wanted to use for my GIF save it to my desktop. On the main screen I clicked “Create”. Then I clicked the far left create option and uploaded my file or image. Then I just added whatever other file(s) or image(s) were necessary for the GIF I was creating. I sent every GIF I created to 1 second so it flipped through in a nice way.

Week 4 Summary

Video week. Honestly, this week was pretty easy once again for me. I would like to say that I have gotten the hang of using technology more but I am not truly positive about that. I felt a little rushed doing this week’s assignments just because so many of the video assignments were day long assignments, meaning I had to be on top of that assignment for the whole and making sure I recorded this and I recorded that and etc. On top of getting my work completed in time for this class, I am dealing with the chaos that comes with weddings, especially considering I am in the wedding party. But I got through it all eventually and that is all that matters.

I began this week by reading an article by Rogers Ebert called β€œHow to Read a Movie”. And I found this very interesting and did not mind reading through it all. Plus I got to relate it back to The Shining which is a classic and funny that it was filmed in a hotel here in Colorado that I have visited once before.

After reading that article I got to apply it all to a scene of one of my favorite movies called 10 Things I Hate About You. In this 10 Things I Hate About You – Reviewed I got to analyze two main things. Camera work and audio track. And then I had to mix it together and pat attention to anything that I may have missed.

I had completed three video assignments that added up to nine stars. The first video was a Funny Tiktok Of My Pet. As I stated this one was very simple to do and I was able to do it almost immediately because lucky me I got three crazy dogs, which I love so much. Then I chose to do Vlog Day – Travel Day. Other than trying to remember to take video clips here and there this was another very easy and simple assignment to complete and kinda felt a like bit like a social media influencer doing a vlog. Lastly I did Where have my shoes taken me today. I thought this one was very fun to complete, plus I did on the day before the wedding I had attended so it involved parts of the rehearsal, luncheon, etc.

Lastly, here are links to the Comments on Video Week 4 and my Week 4 – Daily Creates.

I cannot believe we are heading into our last week of this course but bring it on and let’s finish strong!
